BEAM Directors &
Instructional Leaders Meeting

We had the honor of listening to a powerful presentation by Dr. Xótchil Rocha. She highlighted that bilingualism is an asset and not only does it enhance cognitive development and academic achievement, it also helps to preserve identity.  She challenged us to rethink how we serve Emergent Bilingual students by viewing their language and culture as strengths. Dr. Rocha's session was a powerful reminder that Dual Language education is not just a program, it's a commitment to equity, identity, and excellence.

Dr. Lizdelia Piñón empowered us with the knowledge and tools to support Emergent Bilingual students with disabilities.  Her session highlighted the importance of protecting our most vulnerable students, implementing best practices for EB/SPED students, and improving how we share and use assessment data. Ultimately, her message was clear: We all have a responsibility to be advocates and ensure equitable access and opportunities for every student.
